Discarded and half-submerged in a roadside thorn bush, this Holden bumper was retrieved after months of weathering. Scratched, caked in mud, and visibly damaged, it bore the marks of impact and neglect. The act of cleaning it became unexpectedly intimate, less like restoring an object, more like tending to a wound. The object has been partially sanded down and resprayed by professional auto body workers, its factory silver now bears purple, a liturgical colour associated with repentance.
